Securing an API ecosystem with OAuth 2.0

This page contains the resources for the talk titled 'Securing an API ecosystem with OAuth 2.0'.

Abstract

One of the most critical problems with securing APIs is handling authentication and authorization. OAuth 2.0 is an authorization framework that is well-suited for this task, but its complexity can be pretty scary. As a result, implementations are often insecure and fail to leverage the true power of OAuth 2.0.

In this session, you will learn how to use OAuth 2.0 to secure APIs. We investigate what OAuth 2.0 brings to the table and how to use those features. Using concrete examples, we dive into common API security scenarios, such as user-based access or machine-to-machine access. At the end, you will walk away with a solid understanding of the role OAuth 2.0 plays in securing your APIs.
